Western Kentucky has found their replacement at the head coach position, naming Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford as their new head man. The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon, and the school will officially introduce him at 4 p.m. EST.
Sanford does have a history with the school, serving as the quarterbacks coach in 2010. He has been with the Fighting Irish the past two seasons.
With the hire, the 34-year old becomes the youngest head coach in the FBS. Reports say he will receive a four-year deal and expects to get paid $800,000 annually. Sanford replaces Jeff Brohm, who left last week to take the head coaching job at Purdue. Brohm went 30-10 in three seasons with the school.
The former Boise State quarterback also spent time with the Broncos as their offensive coordinator. This is his first head coaching gig.
