After missing Games 2 and 3 for the Warriors with an ankle injury, Steph Curry was looking forward to returning against the Rockets in Sunday's Game 4. Unfortunately for him, it was one wet spot on the court that caused him to come right back out. After slipping at the end of the first half on Sunday, Curry did not return to the game, and has now been diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain in his right knee.
The star will be reevaluated in two weeks, which means the NBA's best team will be without their best player in the playoffs. The Grade 1 injury is the lowest sprain possible, but with the injury to the MCL specifically, it will still take time to heal.
Curry attempted to return in the second half, but was replaced in the lineup by Shaun Livingston. The point guard could be seen praying with friends and family before leaving the building. The soon to be two-time MVP was very emotional, in tears from the moment the injury occurred until he exited the Toyota Center.
In his one half back from the initial ankle injury, Curry contributed six points, on 2-of-9 shooting, including 1-of-7 from three. With or without their hot-shooting star, the Warriors have still built a 3-1 series lead on the Rockets, and can advance with a win at home on Wednesday night.
