With the old contract, the wide receiver was on pace to make just $9 million in 2019, but his annual average salary has increased to $16 million. He is now one of eight players on the Vikings roster that is under contract through the 2022 season, joining Anthony Barr, Stefon Diggs, Everson Griffen, Danielle Hunter, Eric Kendricks, Linval Joseph, and Xavier Rhodes.
Thielen joined the Vikings after a rookie tryout in May of 2013, and has quickly risen to the top of their receiving core. The former Pro Bowler has had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons receiving, including a career-high 1,373 yards, 113 receptions, and nine receiving touchdowns in 2018. His receiving yards total was the fourth most in franchise history, while his receptions total was third-most. He also became the first player in NFL history to record eight consecutive games with 100-plus receiving yards, and will continue to make history in the Vikings' purple for years to come.
