The Dallas Cowboys seemingly found the answer to their offensive woes when they acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders, it just didn't look like that on Monday night. Marcus Mariota threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, as the Tennessee Titans spoiled Cooper's team debut with a 28-14 win over the Cowboys. Mariota threw for 240 yards through the air, including four receptions for 60 yards and a score for running back Dion Lewis. The former Patriots running back had a surprisingly productive night with 122 yards total in offense.
Cooper did have a four-yard touchdown pass to get the scoring started in the first quarter of his Cowboys debut, as the former Raiders receiver finished with five catches for 58 yards. Although, Dak Prescott didn't help the team when he threw a red zone interception, as he finished with 243 yards passing and two touchdown throws.
Prescott's interception came in the first quarter after Mariota fumbled in the Titans' first two possessions of the night, as both teams struggled to find an offensive groove early on. Kevin Byard had the interception in the end zone on Prescott and caused a mini-scuffle after mocking Terrell Owens' famous celebration inside the star logo at midfield. Owens had done it as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, who were beating up on the Cowboys during that game.
The Titans' win on Monday snapped a three-game losing streak, as they got back to .500 at 4-4, keeping pace with the first-place Houston Texans in the AFC South. They also handed the Cowboys their first home loss in four games, as Dallas dropped to 3-5 on the season. Their tough night included kicker Brett Maher's struggles continuing with a missed 38-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter.
The Titans return home for a tough matchup with the New England Patriots next week, while the Cowboys return to division play when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles.
