The 12th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks' run as Big 12 Champions looks to be in serious jeopardy after Saturday, and that is thanks to the 14th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders. Jarrett Culver had 26 points to lead the Red Raiders in a 91-62 blowout of the Jayhawks, and they rolled on their home floor with the three-point ball. The Red Raiders hit 16 three-pointers as a team, as Culver was one of six players on the team to hit multiple three-pointers in the win. Culver started a run of five consecutive three-pointers from five different players for Texas Tech in the first half, as they led for the entire game. The home team led by as many as 20 in the opening 14 minutes of the game, which was the first time this season that the Jayhawks have trailed by at least 20 this season. They led by as many as 33 points in the game, and took over sole possession of second place in the Big 12 standings.
The Jayhawks only had one player finish in double figures, and that was Dedric Lawson with 14 points, and this was the most lopsided conference loss for them since an 86-53 rout against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on February 7th, 2000. They have won the last 14 regular season Big 12 titles, and are now in must-win territory heading in to an in-state matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats on Monday night. For the Red Raiders, they had four players in double figures, and will move on to host the Cowboys on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the eighth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels are expected to move up in the AP Polls this week after a dominant four days. After blowing out the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night, they pulled away at home for a 77-59 rout of the 16th-ranked Florida State Seminoles. Cameron Johnson had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Luke Maye had one of his own with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Tar Heels have won 10 of their past 11 games overall and now sit in a first-place tie atop the ACC Conference.
Coby White added 10 points for the Tar Heels, who beat Duke by 16 after they lost Zion Williamson 30 seconds in to the game. The Blue Devils played without their star on Saturday, but pulled away for a 10-point win over the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome. North Carolina snapped their rivals' nine-game winning streak on Wednesday and are tied with them for first place in the ACC standings. They went on to snap Florida State's win streak at eight in a row on Saturday, as the Tar Heels expect to move up big time in the rankings before hosting the Orange on Tuesday. The Seminoles were led by David Nichols' 16 points, as they move on to host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Monday.
