Slava Voynov of the Los Angeles Kings has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest on domestic violence charges. The suspension is pending a formal investigation from the NHL. Voynov was arrested at 3:45 a.m. Monday morning by Redondo Beach Police. His bail was set at $50,000, which he posted.
Police reportedly responded to a call from a neighbor who could hear a woman screaming "the past 20 minutes and could now be heard crying." The police found no one in the house, but got a report 90 minutes later of a woman being treated for injuries at a hospital for "injuries that were possibly received during a domestic violence incident."
Redonodo police would report to the hospital and arrest Voynov, who was at the hospital. Voynov will appear in court December 1st in Torrance, California. The case will be reviewed by the district attorney's office for felony consideration.
The NHL suspended Voynov after consulting with the NHL Players Association. Voynov will continued to be paid during his indefinite suspension. He is 24 years old, in his 4th season with the Kings, with 2 assists in 6 games this season.
