The Buffalo Sabres have fallen on some hard times as of late, dropping them out of a divisional Stanley Cup Playoff spot in the Atlantic Division, and they will hope to turn things around without a key component. Veteran forward Jeff Skinner is expected to miss three to four weeks with an upper-body injury. The injury occurred in Friday's 3-0 shutout loss to the Boston Bruins, as he did not return following a collision with David Pastrnak. Skinner actually initiated the contact with Pastrnak by leading the right shoulder during the third period.
Following that hit, Skinner left the game and did not return to what was his 700th career game. The two-time All-Star is most likely dealing with an injury to that shoulder, but as per usual for the game of hockey, it is not specified which part of the upper body he is having an issue with.
The 10-year veteran is fifth on the team with 11 goals to go along with eight assists on the season, but he is coming off a tremendous season a year ago. His career-high 40-goal season in 2018-2019 led to an eight-year, $72 million contract with Buffalo in the off-season. The Sabres currently sit three points out of the final division spot, and six points out of the final Wild Card spot as they return to the ice in Boston against the Bruins Sunday night.
