The other thing that took over the headlines on this night was a fight between Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo. The incident took place in the fourth quarter, as Paul and Rondo got in each others' faces after the play and CP3 was seen pointing his finger in Rondo's face. At one point, the Rockets' point guard made contact with the Lakers' point guard's face, which led to Rondo throwing a punch that landed on Paul's face. Brandon Ingram also got involved in this short, but wild brawl, as he, Paul, and Rondo were all ejected. The league is now reviewing the fight before they hand out any punishments.
A flagrant foul by James Ennis III on Josh Hart earlier in the fourth started the testiness between the two teams, which escalated to the aforementioned fight. It took just 4:30 minutes from that foul for the brawl to break out before the game came to an end.
Paul finished with 28 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds before getting ejected, while Clint Capela had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Rondo dished out 10 assists before he was tossed, as the Lakers dropped their second game of the week. JaVale McGee had 16 points and six rebounds in his home debut, and he said after the game "if there wasn't a fight, we probably would've won the game."
The Lakers are still working on their first victory and will hope to get it when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night. The Rockets will stay in Los Angeles for a second straight game in the Staples Center Sunday night against the Clippers.
