When Jason Terry was traded to the Kings last season, and missed the rest of the season with an injury, not many expected him to return to Sacramento this season. The Kings did not do the expected of letting him become a free agent, but did trade Terry away on Wednesday to Houston. Sacramento receives Alonzo Gee, Scotty Hopson, and two draft picks.
Terry started the season with the Brooklyn Nets last year, but struggled, averaging 4.5 points in 35 games. He missed the rest of the season with a left knee injury after being traded. Terry began his career with the Atlanta Hawks in 1999. He played 5 season there, his best season being 2000-01 whe he averaged 19.7 points. That was followed by eight seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. That included two seasons in which he won the sixth man of the year award (2009, 2011).
Terry played the 2012-13 season with the Boston Celtics, averaging 10.1 points in 79 games. The 37 year-old veteran looks to find more success back in the state of Texas. He won an NBA title with the Mavericks in 2011 when they got the best of the Heat in 2011. Terry is now teaming with James Harden and Dwight Howard on a team who is a favorite in the Western Conference, and expects to contend for an NBA title. Houston may be the last stop in Terry's career, so he hopes to go off on a high note.
