The Baltimore Ravens' offense struggled mightily last season, but so far this preseason, they have a lot to be hopeful about. That continued on Monday night, as they improved to 3-0 this preseason with a 20-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. Both Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson completed touchdown passes, as the Ravens spoiled the home return of Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
Luck was starting his first game at Lucas Oil Stadium since January 1st, 2017, and finished just 6-of-13 for 50 yards. He did lead one scoring drive, which ended with a 57-yard field goal from 45-year-old Adam Vinatieri. Luck only played in to the second quarter, before getting taken out of the game by head coach Frank Reich for Jacoby Brissett.
Flacco finished the night 7-for-9 for 72 yards, as his scoring throw came in the first half. Jackson's came in the second half, as he was 7-of-15 for 49 yards, while also running four times for 26 yards. Robert Griffin III would take over under center for the final 15 minutes of the game.
The Colts did make things exciting at the end of the game, this after recovering a fumble at the Ravens' nine-yard line. Phillip Walker found Zach Pascal for a nine-yard touchdown pass, but Walker was stopped on the two-point conversion attempt. The Ravens would then recover the onside kick attempt to seal the road victory.
There is not yet word on how both Jackson and Griffin will be used come the regular season, as many expect the veteran Flacco to hang on to the starting role. The 2016 Heisman Trophy winner, Jackson, has played very well in his first three outings, and could at least take the backup job from Griffin. The Ravens will play their fourth preseason contest next Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. The Colts will stay home to take on the San Francisco 49ers that same night.
