New Orleans jumped ahead in the fourth by scoring 17 points in the final 15 minutes, overcoming a 10-point deficit to improve to 5-1 on the season. Flacco's late touchdown pass to Brown had completed an 81-yard drive, as Baltimore was hoping to force overtime in this battle of first place teams. Although, with the loss, the Ravens fall a half game behind the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North, but the Bengals play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The Saints remain a game ahead of the Carolina Panthers for the top spot in the NFC South.
Tucker is the most accurate kicker in the NFL by field goal percentage, and was 222-for-222 on extra point attempts coming in to play since his rookie season in 2002. He was also the only kicker in the league without an extra point miss since they moved it back in 2015, going 112-for-112 in that span.
The rare miss gave the Saints their fifth straight win after a season-opening loss, as Brees connected with Michael Thomas and Benjamin Watson in the end zone. The future Hall of Fame quarterback became the fourth QB with 500 career passing touchdowns, doing so with his scoring throw to Watson that gave his team a 7-3 lead. He joined Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre as the only ones to reach the feat. He finished the day completing 22 of 30 passes for 212 yards. His counterpart, Joe Flacco, was 23-of-39 for 279 yards.
Lamar Jackson did score his first-career touchdown on a one-yard run for the 4-3 Ravens, who will visit the Panthers next week. The Saints will visit another first-place team in the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday afternoon.
