The Los Angeles Rams got back on track on Sunday after their first loss of the season over a week ago, but they have another test to deal with. That test is playing without one of their key offensive weapons for Jared Goff, that being Cooper Kupp, who is done for the season with a torn ACL. Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed the news on Monday, this after Kupp suffered the injury during Sunday's 36-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks. The injury was reportedly in the receiver's left knee and comes after he missed two games less than a month ago with a different injury to the same knee.
The injury was a non-contact incident during the fourth quarter on Sunday at home, as the receiver did not return after exiting the contest. Kupp has been a major part of the Rams' offense in both of his NFL, which included him catching 62 passes for 892 yards and five touchdowns a season ago. This year, Kupp has continued to be one of Goff's top targets, recording 40 catches for 566 yards and six touchdowns, and was on pace to crush his career-best numbers early on.
The Rams have to roll with the next-man-up mentality, with Robert Woods expected to step up with Brandin Cooks as the top targets, while Josh Reynolds will return to the starting lineup. Reynolds started in both games that Kupp missed earlier this year. He also stepped in on Sunday, as well as in Week 5 when Kupp was placed in concussion protocol at halftime.
This was not the week for the Rams to lose an offensive playmaker, as they get ready for a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Mexico City.
