Weddle was suppose to add to an already stout Rams defense, who was coming off a Super Bowl appearance the previous season, but a tough finish to their season made them miss the playoffs. The Rams went just 9-7 under young coach Sean McVay after falling in Super Bowl 53 to the New England Patriots.
The safety posted his decision on Twitter Thursday afternoon, with a screen shot of his career stats. Those statistics include a six-time Pro Bowler, five-time All-Pro, 1,235 career tackles, 30 interceptions, and five defensive touchdowns, four of which were pick-sixes. You can also add in there eight forced fumbles, seven recoveries, and 9.5 sacks. With the veteran cutting out on the Rams sooner than expected, they are expected to turn to second-year pro Taylor Rapp to start with John Johnson to begin the 2020 campaign.
