Following a 49-35 home loss to Iowa last Saturday, Purdue football fired head coach Darrell Hazell, who spent over three seasons with the school. Hazell lead the Boilermakers to a 3-3 record this year, but is just 9-33 in his time with the program.
The loss on Saturday dropped Hazell's Big Ten record to 3-24, which is clearly not getting the job done.
The program spoke on their decision to relieve Hazell of his duties, speaking nothing but great things about his demeanor, but claimed that the success needed to come with it. Athletic Director Mike Bobinski also stated his confidence that good things are coming for the team.
Wide receivers coach Gerad Parker will serve as the interim head coach, and will be tested right away with a battle against No. 8 Nebraska this Saturday.
