The 32-year-old seemingly re-aggravated the injury during a game last Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks, as he was taken out of the game in third period. The long-time Penguin leads the team with 17 points through 17 games, recording five goals and 12 assists in the 2019-2020 campaign. Pittsburgh currently sits in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division, but has dealt with injuries all season long. Crosby joins a long list that includes Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist, Bryan Rust, Alex Galchenyuk, and Nick Bjugstad as players who have already missed time this season due to injuries. The Penguins will move on without Crosby for now beginning on Friday night on the road against the New Jersey Devils.
