After nearly a full day of speculation, the New England Patriots did what many expected them to, and that's claim wide receiver Michael Floyd off waivers. This comes just a day after Floyd was released by the Cardinals following a DUI arrest three days ago.
New England has had just four receivers on their roster this season. That position got even thinner when they lost Danny Amendola to an ankle injury on December 4th. That leaves Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, and Malcolm Butler as the top three recievers. They have a combined 139 catches for 1,762 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year.
Floyd had 33 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns with Arizona this season. His best year was in 2013 when he had 65 catches for 1,041 yards.
The Patriots also pick up the remainder of the wideout's contract, which is up after this season. He is scheduled to make $1.2 million for the rest of the season. There is not yet word if he will face any discipline for the arrest.
