The Oregon Ducks basketball program has been on its way up the past few seasons, and they are rewarding head coach Dana Altman for that. The Ducks gave their coach a seven-year contract extension before Friday's season opener. The deal is worth $18.45 million and runs through the 2022-23 season.
Altman has lead the Ducks to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight appearance last season. Oregon made it to the Sweet 16 in 2013 under Altman, and is currently ranked fifth in the pre-season AP Polls as the favorites to win the Pac-12 Conference.
The Ducks' coach took over in the 2010 season, leading his team to the CBI and the NIT in his first two seasons at the school. He spent 16 years at Creighton before coming over to Eugene. He has posted a record of 155-64 with the Ducks, and has a career record of 565-307.
Altman stated after their season-opening win over Army "my wife and I love it here, and we want to be here."
