The Marquette Golden Eagles are seeing the most progress that they've had since Steve Wojciechowski joined the program five seasons ago. With that being said, the school wants to make sure that he sticks around for at least another five years. The Golden Eagles gave Wojciechowski a new five-year deal on Tuesday, keeping him with the team through the 2023-2024 season. The financial terms of the contract were not revealed, but athletic director Bill Scholl expressed the excitement they have in the direction Wojciechowski is taking the program, along with the fact that he agreed to stick around.
The 42-year-old has led Marquette to the NCAA Tournament twice in his five seasons with the program, including an appearance in March Madness this past season. They are coming off a 24-10 campaign in 2018-2019, which was the third time during Wojciechowski's tenure that they have recorded at least 20 victories in a season.
Wojciechowski is the 17th coach in program history, joining them in April of 2014, signing a six-year contract at the time. and then receiving a contract extension through the 2021-2022 season in December of 2015. Wojciechowski holds an overall record of 97-69 with the Golden Eagles, with a lot more winning projected to be in his future.
