The injuries continue to pile up in the NL Wild Card race, and we added another one on Saturday night. The Miami Marlins, who fell out of the second Wild Card spot with a loss against the White Sox, placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the disabled list with a left groin injury.
The injury occurred on the same night that the St. Louis Cardinals went up a half game in the Wild Card race, as Stanton was hurt on an awkward slide into second base. It took place in the ninth inning as the Home Run Derby Champion was attempting to stretch a single into a double.
