The Indianapolis Colts got their franchise quarterback back on the field last week, but could not earn the victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. They hit the road this week and pulled off their first win with Andrew Luck back under center, as they beat the Washington Redskins, 21-9, on Sunday afternoon. Luck threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns to overcome his two interceptions, earning his first regular season win since the end of the 2016 season.
Luck missed all of last season following shoulder surgery, and nearly missed more time this year before making his return to the field in the preseason. He played well at home in Week 1 against the Bengals, despite not getting the win, but has to be feeling really good with that first "W" under his belt.
The former Stanford quarterback found Eric Ebron for a touchdown in the first quarter, and then T.Y Hilton in the fourth to pull away for good. He finished 21-of-31 passing on this day, and led the game-sealing drive in the fourth quarter that put Washington down for the count.
Alex Smith had another stat-filled outing in his second start with the Redskins, throwing for 292 yards, but could not find the end zone. Washington was held to just three field goals by Dustin Hopkins, who made 3-of-4, with a long of 49 yards.
Both teams sit at 1-1 on the young season, as the Colts move on to visit the Philadelphia Eagles in the return of Carson Wentz. Meanwhile, the Redskins stay home to host Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
