After falling in his return to Miami on Christmas day, somewhere deep down LeBron James was looking for some revenge on Wednesday night. He got just that as the Cleveland Cavaliers took out the Miami Heat 113-93 to remain red hot.
James had 18 points against his former team and the Cavs had 6 players in double figures. That included Timofey Mozgov scoring 20 and Tristan Thompson adding 17, as Cleveland recorded their 14th win in 15 games.
LeBron got his first win against the team that he went to 4 straight NBA Finals with, including winning 2 NBA titles. He embraced former teammate Chris Bosh before the game, but his good friend Dwayne Wade was out for the 7th straight game with a strained right hamstring. He will not play in Sunday's All-Star game, but plans to be back February 20th against the New York Knicks.
Hassan Whiteside led the Heat with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Cavaliers forward Kevin Love missed most of the 2nd half with an eye injury. He was accidentally poked in the eye by Mario Chalmers. Love has been diagnosed with a cornea abrasion and is listed as questionable for tonight's game in Chicago.
The Cavaliers led by as many as 26 in the 1st half, but let Miami as close as 12 in the 3rd quarter.
Cleveland sits a half game behind Chicago in the Central Division with a 33-21 record, and will visit the Chicago Bulls tonight. The Heat fell to 22-30 but have 9 days off before they visit the Knicks in their first game after the All-Star break.
