After what was a poor debut Thursday night for LeBron James and the Cavs, may were picking the Bulls handily over Cleveland Friday. James shut down those critics with a clutch performance, in the Cavs' first win of the season, 114-108 over Chicago in OT. James lead the way with 36 points, with 8 of them coming in OT.
Derrick Rose continued to battle injuries for the Bulls, as he sprained his left ankle in the 1st half, and went to the locker room in the 4th. He finished the game with 20 points, as the Bulls suffered their 1st loss of the season.
The Cavaliers had a 9-point lead in the 4th, but found themselves trailing by 5 in the final minute of regulation. James lead the rally in the final minute, and then the entire OT as the Cavs outscored the Bulls 16-10 in OT.
Tristan Thompson tied a franchise record with 12 offensive rebounds, giving Cleveland plenty of second-chance opportunities. Thompson had 16 points and 13 rebounds on the night.
James finished the game with 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and just 3 turnovers. This following a 5-of-15 night, with 8 turnovers in a loss to the Knicks in the season opener. Kyrie Irving scored 23 points, while Kevin Love added a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Cleveland out-rebounded the Bulls 52-42.
Trying to overcome another Rose injury, the Bulls were lead by 20 points by Kirk Hinrich, 15 from Pau Gasol, and 14 for Mike Dunleavy Jr. It is unknown if Derrick Rose will be ready for Chicago's game Saturday night, at Minnesota. He said after the game that they'll have to see how he feels. The Cavs are off until Tuesday, as they out west to visit the Portland Trail Blazers.
