It was Wallace's first interception in an SEC game this season, as he finished 14/33 for 176 yards and a TD. LSU coach Les Miles called the storming of the crowd of 102,321 on to the field "beautiful." It was much need for Miles, after his 91 year-old mother, Martha, passed away less than 24 hours prior.
LSU finished with 264 rushing yards, 147 in the first half, against a defense that allowed 97.1 rushing yards per game.They were lead by Leonard Fournette with 113 yards. The Tigers took the lead on Anthony Jennings' go ahead TD pass to Logan Stokes. Kenny Hilliard ran 6 times for 47 yards on the game-winning drive.
LSU trailed 7-3 heading in to the 4th, after Wallace found Cody Core for a 15-yard score in the 1st. Colby Delahoussaye's 21-yard field goal in the 2nd ended all scoring until the final quarter. The Tigers are now 24-23 since 2005 when trailing in to the 4th quarter. That is an FBS best, with Texas' 18-34 record in 2nd.
Jennings finished 8/16 for 142 yards, with 2 interceptions for LSU. The Tigers' defense lead the way after the 1st, shutting out the Rebels for the final 3 quarters. LSU moves to 7-2 on the year, and 3-2 in conference play, with a showdown against Alabama coming November 8th. Ole Miss falls to 7-1 on the year, 4-1 in conference, and will host Auburn next week.
