Ball got tied up with James Ennis III with 8:39 to play in the third, injuring the same ankle that he injured in November. The second-year point guard was carried to the locker room by Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley. Ball is averaging 9.9 points on 40.6 percent shooting this season, along with 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
The young player joins James and Rajon Rondo on the injury list, as they deal with groin and finger injuries respectively. Both of those players have been cleared for full-contact practice, but a return date has yet to be announced. James and Rondo have both missed the previous 13 games, and are not expected back for Monday's home contest against the Warriors. The team is expected to call up Alex Caruso from the South Bay Lakers, which is the team's G-League affiliate.
