Vick also got hot in the extra period, scoring eight of his points in overtime to power the Jayhawks on their home floor. The win keeps them unbeaten on the season at 6-0, including 3-0 at home, as Vick shot 10-of-17 to lead the efficient Kansas shooting.
The Cardinal looked to be on their way to an upset without overtime, as Dajeon Davis hit two free throws for a 75-72 lead with 13.3 seconds left. Although, that was too much time to leave the Jayhawks, who got Vick's three-pointer in their final possession. Vick wasted no time setting the tone in overtime, kicking things off with a big dunk and a three-pointer. What makes his big time performance even more impressive is the fact that he had just two points at halftime.
Dedric Lawon also stepped up for Kansas with 24 points and 15 rebounds, while Udoka Azubuike added 18 points and nine rebounds in their second close win over an unranked team. The Jayhawks needed a 22-0 run to get past Marquette two weeks ago, as they also have a close win over a top-10 team in the Michigan State Spartans to open the season.
Kansas will return home on Tuesday night to host Wofford in another winnable home game. Meanwhile, the Cardinal, who got 22 points and eight rebounds from KZ Okpala, will host Eastern Washington next Saturday.
