Yet another NFL player is in trouble with the law. The latest coming from the Arizona Cardinals, as RB Jonathan Dwyer was arrested on domestic-violence charges Wednesday. He was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, one count of preventing the use of a phone to contact 911, and assault.
These are charges that are stemming from incidents that took place on July 21 and July 22, involving a 27 year-old female who he is married to and their 18 month-old child. A report was made to the Phoenix Police Department on September 11th, which lead to the arrest six days later. The female reportedly left the Phoenix home with the child following these incidents.
The Cardinals deactivated Dwyer from all team activities after the news of his arrest was released. The 25 year-old Dwyer reportedly admitted to the incidents, but denied any physical assaults to the female or child. This incident is similar to plenty of others going on in the NFL, including Ray McDonald's of the San Francisco 49ers. McDonald was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, but the Niners continue to allow him to play. The Cardinals were not as lenient, but have yet to suspend, release, or discipline Dwyer in any way other than deactivating him.
