What seemed to be a much more calm than expected confrontation with a fan on Saturday night has turned in to punishment for Isaiah Thomas of the Washington Wizards. Thomas has been suspended two games by the NBA for entering the crowd on Saturday to confront a fan who was yelling obscenities his way. Thomas explained after the game that the fan gave him the double middle finger, while yelling multiple swear words his way, calling him a "f****** b****" in the process. Barstool Sports released video of the confrontation up close, which was mostly calm, as the fan remained joking, stating that he "just wanted his frosty."
Despite the calmness of this incident, the league has to follow their own rules that states a player willingly entering the crowd during a game be automatically ejected, along with fined and/or suspended. He was ejected when this took place in the fourth quarter of the Wizards' 125-108 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center.
The fan, along with another spectator nearby, has been banned from the arena for a year, while getting his season tickets revoked,, which he will get his money back for. The point guard remained calm throughout the entire thing, explaining that he was "a man before anything," as this conversation never got heated. Despite all of that, he will begin to serve his suspension on Monday when the Wizards visit the New York Knicks.
