The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a chance on Monday when they signed former Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff to their practice squad. This move comes just two days after Huff was released by Philadelphia following an arrest last week. Huff was arrested for DUI, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of ammunition, and marijuana. This all came from him getting stopped for speeding.
The 25-year-old had 13 catches for 72 yards and a kickoff returned for a touchdown this season. Since getting drafted in the third round of the 2014 draft, Huff has seen action in 34 games, including six starts. In his career, he has 27 receptions for 312 yards and three touchdowns.
Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter down-played the doubters who questioned this move by saying "we signed him to the practice squad, that's it." He explained that the team will approach Huff like any other member of the practice squad, looking to develop him into someone who can help in the future. Huff admitted his mistakes and stated "I had the belief in my faith that God was gonna put me in a place where he wanted me to be at. Obviously he wanted me to be in Tampa."
