Gerald Green had a nice night off the bench for Houston, scoring 25 points, while Kenneth Faried recorded a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out with 5:07 to play. The win for Houston snaps a mild two-game losing streak, which also included a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on their home floor last Tuesday night.
The Rockets also jumped ahead of the Jazz by holding them to just 36 percent shooting and forcing 23 turnovers, as they recorded their 30th win of the season. The recently-hot Jazz got 26 points and nine assists from Donovan Mitchell, while Rudy Gobert had a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds in their 24th loss. They are a full game behind the Rockets for the sixth-seed in the West, while the Rockets are a game behind the San Antonio Spurs for the fifth-seed.
The Rockets used a 17-4 run in the second quarter to pull away, as they surpassed 30 points in three of the four quarters. They will pay a visit to the last-place Phoenix Suns on Monday, while the Jazz will play host to those Suns on Wednesday.
