The New York Giants are coming off their second win over the first-place Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. They were able to hold the Cowboys to just seven points despite losing defensive end, Jason Pierre-Paul, for the season following sports hernia surgery. This was announced last week, as the surgery took place on Wednesday.
Recovery time is six weeks, which means, if all goes as planned, the star could be back for the conference championship round of the playoffs.
The 27-year-old will be a free agent at season's end, and seemed to be bolstering his stock with a comeback year. He had lost his right index finger in a firework accident on the Fourth of July in 2015, which limited his production last season. This year, Pierre-Paul had 53 tackles and seven sacks in 12 games. He led the team and ranked second in the league with eight batted passes.
The only defensive lineman who had played more snaps than JPP this season was teammate, Olivier Vernon.
Kerry Wynn is expected to take the place of the injured star, as he did last season following the firework accident. The 25-year-old started seven games last year, but had the second-most snaps without a sack among NFL lineman. So far this year, Wynn has totaled 0.5 sacks in 85 snaps.
