The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to get tested by tough opponents, and they seem to be passing them as of late to improve their positioning in the Western Conference. Paul George had 36 points and 13 rebounds on Sunday night, lifting the Thunder in their latest test, 118-112, over the Milwaukee Bucks. George helped the Thunder hold a lead late in the fourth by scoring seven points in the final 1:15, as the Thunder got the best of the top team in the NBA. Russell Westbrook contributed his 16th triple-double of the season with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. The point guard now has 120 of them in his career, as this one helped his team improve to 31-18 on the season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 27 points and 18 rebounds in the loss for the Bucks, who drop in to a virtual tie with the Toronto Raptors for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors got a 123-120 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. Khris Middleton added 22 points for Milwaukee, who fell short of a comeback from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Eric Bledsoe's three-pointer got their deficit down to three, but that is when George got hot.
Jerami Grant added 16 points and Terrance Ferguson had 15 for Oklahoma City, who led by as many as 16 points on the night. George had 21 points in the first half to lead the hot start, while the "Greek Freak" missed his first six shots, and had just three points at halftime. Brook Lopez did get off to a nice start for the Bucks with 4-for-4 shooting from three-point range in the opening quarter, and he finished with 19 points in their 13th loss of the year.
The Bucks will look to bounce back on on the road Tuesday night when they battle the inconsistent Detroit Pistons. Meanwhile, the Thunder will visit the Orlando Magic that same night.
