The New England Patriots have found a way to start 2-0 without Tom Brady under center, but they may have to get even more creative for the next two weeks. Brady's backup, Jimmy Garoppolo, went down during Sunday's win over the Dolphins with a shoulder injury. The injury occurred in the second quarter when the QB landed on his shoulder during a tackle from Kiko Alonso.
Rookie Jacoby Brissett took over for the second half.
The Patriots waited until after the game to reveal that Garoppolo suffered a sprained AC joint and is listed as day-to-day. That puts his availablity for Thursday's game against the Texans in question.
The team has not decided how they will play their cards at the quarterback position against Houston. They have a week 4 game against the Buffalo Bills, and then Tom Brady returns for week 5 against the Browns.
Another major injury took place on the other side of the ball for the Denver Broncos, as linebacker DeMarcus Ware fractured his forearm in Sunday's win over the Colts. The injury occurred in the second half on a collision with teammate, Von Miller, and he will undergo more tests to see if surgery is needed.
Ware left Sunday's game without a tackle, but did get a half-sack, tying him with Julius Peppers for 11th all-time with 136 sacks.
He has dealt with injuries over the last two years, including missing all of training camp and preseason with back issues. Those same back issues also caused him to miss five games last season. He did return for the season opener and played 32 snaps, recording 1.5 sacks. It is still unclear if he will see anymore action this season.
