FSU QB Jameis Winston has dealt with sexual abuse allegations, and has been accused of getting money for autographs in the past week, but he didn't seemed phased Saturday. Winston finished 23/31 for 273 yards, with 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Winston was hit a lot in the first half, but he came out in the second half and lead touchdown drives on 3 of the first 4 2nd half possessions. He also completed his first 13 2nd half passes. Rashad Greene, Travis Rudolph, Jesus Wilson, and Karlos Williams all caught big passes on the early scoring drives.
Winston has shined in the 2nd half all season long for Florida State. Oklahoma State gave FSU a scare in the season opener, but fell by 6 after a dominant 2nd half from Winston. He also went off against NC State, putting 56 points on the board, and missed just 6 passes and threw for 317 yards last week against Syracuse. With Saturday's win, Winston passed Greg McElroy for most wins by an FBS quarterback to begin a career since 2000.
The Seminoles defense helped finish off the victory, after the pass interference penalty in the 4th, picking off the desperation pass in the end zone. The Fighting Irish was handed their first loss of the season, falling to 6-1, and expected to fall in the rankings. Everett Golson threw for 313 and 3 touchdowns, 2 of those in the 1st half. The Fighting Irish will visit Navy on November 1st for their next game, while the Seminoles visit Louisville October 30th.
