Mikael Backlund scored on a delayed penalty in overtime to give the Flames a 4-3 win to cut the series deficit to 2-1 on Tuesday night. This after Johnny Gaudreau sent the game into the extra period when scored with 19.5 seconds left in regulation.
Gaudreau was able to redeem himself after having a goal disallowed minutes prior to his game-tying tally. Backlund's goal came at 4:24 of overtime after the Ducks pulled their goalie for the penalty. Joe Colborne and Brandon Bollig also scored for Calgary, while Sam Bennett had a goal disallowed at 13:38 of the third period. Colborne tied the game at two with his first goal of the postseason.
Patrick Maroon, Corey Perry, and Matt Beleskey scored for Anaheim, who suffered their first loss of this postseason. Ryan Getzlaf contributed 2 assists and Frederik Anderson recorded 17 saves. Getzlaf assisted Perry's and Maroon's goal. Beleskey's goal was his third goal in as many games in the series.
