About a week after the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a four-year deal with the No. 2 overall pick, quarterback Carson Wentz. The contract is worth $26.67 million, all of which is guaranteed, and includes a signing bonus of $17.6 million. With this agreement, the Eagles have now signed all eight of their draft picks.
The deal with their new quarterback comes one day before the beginning of the team's three-day rookie camp. Wentz returned to Philadelphia on Thursday for camp. Voluntary camp for the whole team begins on Tuesday.
The Eagles wanted the QB from North Dakota State the entire way, making two trades to move up from the No. 13 pick.
The move angered current Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, who was not answering calls or texts immediately after the draft. He would then go on to request a trade, a decision he rescinded earlier this week. He returned to the team on Monday.
Eagles head coach Doug Pederson says that Bradford will be the starting quarterback entering the 2016 season. Chase Daniel will be the backup, as Pederson wants Wentz to learn the speed of the NFL game before playing.
