The Blue Devils hadn't lost at home since March of 2012 before Tuesday night, and hadn't lost consecutive games since February of 2009. It is also the first time that Duke has lost back-to-back games by double digits since March of 1996. The loss drops Duke to 14-2 on the season and 2-2 in ACC play.
Duke was upset by unranked NC State 87-75 on Saturday night.
Manu Lecomte had a career-high 23 points for the Hurricanes, who ran their record to 12-4 overall, 2-1 in the ACC. They trailed 35-34 at the half, but shot 18 of 27 from the field in the second half, including 6 of 9 from 3 to score 56 second-half points.
The Hurricanes have had their ups and downs on the season defeating the 8th-ranked Florida Gators on the road, but then losing to Western Kentucky by 28 points at home on December 19th to drop them out of the top 25.
The Hurricanes look to fight their way back into the rankings, visiting the 12th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski remains at 997 career wins, and has a tough test Saturday afternoon against the 7th-ranked Louisville Cardinals.
