Mason Crosby had a game to forget last week in Detroit, and he did his best to forget it on Monday night. The veteran kicker helped himself do that by connecting on a game-winning, 27-yard field goal as time expired to give the Green Bay Packers a 33-30 win over the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field. Crosby missed five kicks in the Packers' road loss to the Lions last week, but was set up beautifully by Kevin King's interception with 1:07 to win the game on Monday.
The game-winner was his fourth field goal of the night, as he also made from 29, 39,and 51 yards out. The Niners basically gave the game away, even before Crosby's final kick, as Richard Sherman was flagged for illegal contact on third and 15 with 43 seconds left. That wiped away a sack on Aaron Rodgers, as Green Bay had no timeouts left. Rodgers would then gain 21 yards on a carry the very next play, and then completed two more passes, all to lead the Packers to their third win.
The former NFL MVP threw for 425 yards and two touchdowns, both to Davante Adams, as the Packers pulled in to a three-way tie for first in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. Rodgers' latest touchdown pass was for 16 yards with 1:55 to play that tied the game at 30.
C.J. Beathard played surprisingly well in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, throwing for 245 yards and finding Marquise Goodwin for two long touchdown passes. The Niners dropped their fourth straight game, and third since losing Garoppolo to a torn ACL against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. They seemed to be on their way to the upset win on Monday, but gave up 10 points in the final two minutes to blow a late lead.
Rodgers completed 25 of his 46 passes, including 10 of them to Adams for 132 yards. Three different receivers had over 100 reception yards for Green Bay, who will visit the undefeated Los Angeles Rams after a bye week. The Niners will play host to that same Rams team next week.
