Nick Foles did not have a happy ending with the Los Angeles Rams, but he is now looking to rejuvenate his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Eagle agreed to a one-year deal with the Chiefs late Wednesday night. He will receive $1.75 million this season, and does have a second year option that could be worth between $6.75-$16 million.
Foles is now back with head coach Andy Reid, who was with Philadelphia when they selected the quarterback in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He is expected to back up Alex Smith, who is now in his fourth season with Kansas City.
Multiple teams showed interest in Foles after he left the Rams, and even after the deal with the Chiefs came out. The Dallas Cowboys recently lost quarterback Kellen Moore to a broken ankle, and they considered Foles as a replacement. Sources say the Minnesota Vikings also expressed some interest.
Foles' best season came in 2013 under Chip Kelly, throwing 27 touchdowns while going 8-2 in 10 games. He has since had back-to-back 10-interception seasons, and hasn't come close to 20 touchdowns in a year. Foles could learn a lot while backing up Smith, as he looks to find that groove he had when he first entered the NFL.
