The Arizona Cardinals had to make a tough call in the midst of a tough season, as they released wide receiver, Michael Floyd, on Wednesday afternoon. This move comes just two days after he was arrested on a DUI charge. Floyd was found unconsious in his running vehicle Monday morning at an intersection. This took place in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The team was shocked following the news during the week, with many of his teammates just worried about Floyd's condition. Safety Tyrann Mathieu expressed his hope that the receiver will get another chance.
The wideout first told officers that he was going to pick up his nephew, but as the story went on, it turned in to him having one, then two drinks. He does have a history with alcohol problems, getting involved in three separate incidents with the law during his time at Notre Dame.
The Cardinals selected Floyd 13th overall in the 2012 draft, and was playing with the team after they picked up his option before the 2015 season. This season, he had 33 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns. This comes a year after he caught 52 passes for 849 yards. In his most recent game action, Floyd caught two passes for 18 yards in a loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. That was less than 24 hours before this fate-sealing incident.
