The Milwaukee Brewers do not care about all of the acquisitions the Los Angeles Dodgers made before Tuesday's trade deadline, because they made some of their own, and they are back on the right track. The Brew-Crew took their second straight from Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium with a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday night. Wade Miley threw seven shutout innings and struck out five for his second win, while also continuing his career success on the road against the Dodgers.
In seven career starts at Dodger Stadium, Miley is now 4-0 with a 2.06 ERA, with a majority of those starts coming when he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He did get some help from outfielder Lorenzo Cain, who robbed Cody Bellinger of a home run at the centerfield wall in the seventh inning. That ended the inning, as the outfielder also drove in the lone run of the game with an RBI double in the third inning against Walker Buehler.
The win for the Brewers pulls them back in to a tie for the top spot in the NL Central with the Chicago Cubs, who fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road Tuesday night. They can thank this recent road trip for being back in that position, as Milwaukee is now 5-1 during their current eight-game west coast road trip. They took three of four from the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, and have now won eight of 11 since their seven-game losing streak.
The Dodgers dropped their third in a row, which dropped them a half-game behind the Colorado Rockies, who beat the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday. The defending National League Champions are now in a tie with the Diamondbacks for second place in the division.
The bright side for is that their dealing continued all the way up to the 4:00pm trade deadline, as they acquired second baseman Brian Dozier from the Minnesota Twins. Dozier arrived in the Dodger dugout in the eighth inning of Tuesday's game and is expected to make his team debut in game 3 of the series on Wednesday night.
