The Boston College Eagles faced a double-digit deficit on their home floor Sunday afternoon against the 11th-ranked team in the country, yet Ky Bowman took over after halftime. Bowman finished with 37 points, as the Eagles scored 51 points in the second half, taking down No. 11 Florida State, 87-82. Jordan Chatman gave Boston College the lead for good with three consecutive three-pointers, as the Eagles went on a 21-4 run to come out of halftime. That quickly erased a 46-36 deficit, and they never trailed after that, handing the Seminoles their fifth loss of the season.
Florida State has now dropped three consecutive games, all within the ACC, and all this week, which has them ready to drop a good amount come Monday's rankings. They trailed by as many as nine in the second half, but did get their deficit down to four with just over a minute to play. Although, Wynston Tabbs came through with a three-pointer with 24 seconds to play, sealing the victory, which snapped Boston College's losing streak at five games.
Chatman started the game 0-for-5 from the floor in the first half, finishing with just two points by halftime. He went on to score 15 points in the second half, including five three-pointers on 5-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Bowman had 18 points alone in the first half, helping the Eagles jump out to a 19-13 lead. Florida State would then go on an 8-0 run to jump ahead, and then built their double digit lead in the opening 20 minutes. Bowman played all 40 minutes of the game and added nine rebounds in his team-leading effort.
Mifondu Kabengele had 26 points and nine rebounds, while Terrance Mann added 14 points and eight rebounds in the loss for Florida State. The Seminoles will return home on Tuesday night to host the Clemson Tigers, while the Eagles will enjoy nearly a week off before visit Wake Forest next Saturday.
