Gasol announced the news on Twitter, claiming that he was "very excited" to join the team, as they continue to add height down low. He joins a roster that already has Hassan Whiteside, Zach Collins, and the still injured Nurkic. They acquired Whiteside from the Miami Heat after losing Enes Kanter in free agency to the Boston Celtics. Kanter took over in a major way come playoff time after Nurkic went down late in the regular season.
The veteran is a six-time All-Star and has 18 years of NBA experience, which includes two NBA Championships. Although, he played in just 30 games this past season, averaging 3.9 points and 4.6 rebounds, both of which were career lows. His career averages are much more impressive, 17 points and 9.2 rebounds per game during time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls.
