It was announced by the NFL on Friday that Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams has been suspended four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. His role was said to be LeSean McCoy's primary backup, but the team will now need another game plan heading into the 2016 season.
Williams rushed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Sources say he had been showing up to spring practices overweight, so the team is disappointed in their running back, to say the least.
In a statement from the organization, they expressed that disappointment by saying "poor decisions such as this affect not only the individual, but the entire Bills organization." They can now only hope that the extra time off the field will help Williams get into shape for his return.
Buffalo lead the league in rushing overall last year, but have dealt with multiple off-the-field issues in their backfield this off-season. McCoy was involved in a nightclub brawl in February, but recently had the case dismissed and found out he would not face discipline from the league. Meanwhile, rookie Jonathan Williams was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of driving under the influence.
So, it will take a lot of shaping up from now to the beginning of the season for the Bills to get their ground game back on track.
